Sumptuous Suites On Europe’s Rivers

16th August 2016

Comfort is key when sailing on a river cruise. Although you will be spending a lot of time in the public areas and on exciting shore excursions, it’s great to have somewhere luxurious to retire to at the end of a long day of sightseeing. Most river ships will feature a high number of standard cabins along with a few more opulent options if you really want to enhance your trip. But what do these sumptuous suites have to offer? Here are some of the best options on Europe’s rivers.

Royal Suite – Uniworld’s S.S Catherine

SS Catherine Royal Suite

A good night’s sleep is guaranteed with Uniworld’s Savoir® of England beds and the climate control will allow you to set the perfect temperature. The Royal Suite offers 401 square feet of luxury which includes a spacious walk-in wardrobe, large living room and a plush infotainment centre attached to the flat screen TV.

The beautiful marble bathrooms provide L’Occitane products to use in the shower or the bath and the open-air balcony is the perfect place to sit and watch the world float by. Guests choosing to stay in the only Royal Suite on board will also receive extra services including a bottle of wine on arrival, daily cookies, a Nespresso coffee machine and a dedicated butler.

Violin Deck Suite – AmaWaterways’ AmaViola

AmaViola Suite

AmaViola is one of AmaWaterways’ newest ships, having made her debut earlier this year. Her four suites on the Violin Deck boast 350 square foot of space and the cruise line’s new twin balcony concept. This means that you get a French balcony in the bedroom and a full open-air balcony in the living room area, allowing you to really let the outside in.

The bathroom features a bath and a shower and you can slip into a stylish Terry bathrobe once you have finished your soak. A full-length mirror will help you prepare for a fancy evening and complimentary internet access will let you share the photos of you dressed to the nines with everyone back home.

Category 7 Suite – Tauck’s ms Joy

Tauck Suite

Christened just two months ago, ms Joy’s suites feature not one but two floor-to-ceiling French balconies where you can catch the spectacular views along Europe’s waterways. There are 22 of these luxury accommodation options on board the ship, each of which provides 300 square foot of space.

Increased comfort comes in the form of the 400 thread count linens on the bed and the Molton Brown toiletries in a bathroom that includes a rainfall shower. There are bathrobes and slippers available, a coffee maker, plenty of space for your clothes in the walk-in wardrobe and breakfast can be enjoyed in your suite.

Deluxe Suite – Riviera’s MS Charles Dickens

Riviera Suite

The Deluxe Suites on board MS Charles Dickens concentrate on offering more space in the living area, proving 245 square foot of room in total. There is a small outdoor balcony and the comfortable beds can be pushed together or split apart at a moment’s notice.

In-suite facilities include a safe, hairdryer, air-conditioning, flat screen TV and tea and coffee making, whilst the elegant bathroom features a fully glazed shower. There are four Deluxe Suites, each situated on the upper deck of the ship.

Explorer Suite – Viking River Cruises’ Viking Alruna

Viking River Cruises Explorer Suite

Viking Alruna is one of Viking River Cruises’ newest batch of Viking Longships and offers two fantastic Explorer Suites on the upper deck. Each of these measures a massive 445 square feet in size and includes a French balcony as well as a stylish wrap-around veranda from which to watch the sunset.

The bathroom is home to a shower and a heated mirror that won’t fog up when you’re trying to get ready and you can keep up to date with all the news back home courtesy of two flatscreen TVs that offer a premium entertainment package. The fridge gives you somewhere to cool the bottled water that is replenished daily and the hotel-style bed will ensure you are rejuvenated each night ready for a new day of explorations.

Choosing a suite for your river cruise will not only give you much more space and comfort but you will also have access to a range of upgraded amenities. If you are looking to enjoy a European river cruise in style, this is the way to do it.
